#106: Frozen in the headlights (Penang Day 1)

Yes, this is Malaysia.

As I’ve promised before that I will post about my Penang Roadtrip, here it goes.

After such a horrible week of tanning festival in Kemaman, Terengganu during the Geological Mapping Fieldwork, and also let me remind about the devastating days of trying to finish up the fieldwork report; I said yes to the Highschool Besties Roadtrip to.. tradadada Penang Island! I thought I could spare some time, reviving my energy and soul for even crazier upcoming days of assignments, tests and also Finals. Indeed, it was such a great decision made. Managed to do catch-ups with those girls (who I call as true friends; forever and ever and ever..) and knot those ties even tighter ;)

Summing up; it was such a great treat! Arrived in Penang in the middle of the night around 12am, checked into our hotel in Georgetown, Penang and we had our reaaaally heavy supper at Nasi Kandar Line Clear! I mean, that is the reason why we’re in Penang, right? I mean, the food, right? :D HIHIHII. Oooh we also toured around Upper Penang Road that night, checking out the clubs there. Oh my, Penang Nightlife is just so irresistible! Oh by the way, we literally had a roadtrip, because we were touring with Gong’s Jeep, with only a Penang Map as our guide! :D

The next morning, we were all set with a goal of “indulging more Penang food, arts, cultures, architectures and also the beach!”

We hit the Upper Penang Road again that morning, they had this bazaar (like the ones in The Curve, Damansara) but it was even more beautiful as it has a more artsy and cultural touch. Music, Arts (literally arts like paintings), Cultural food and souvenirs, and of course English homemade food and coffee (like quinche, lasagna, Russian cheesecake, pies, ahhh you name it!). Couldn’t help myself not to indulge those delicious pastries and also coffee ;)

Then, we headed to Ferringhi Beach :D Oh yesss, shirts off, shades on; lying on the beach tanning like nobody’s business, sipping coconut drink, but ohh the warm sea breeze was just amazing ;) We also had a massage, OHH IT WAS SUCH A GOOD THERAPY! :DD Then, we headed to the Straits Quay. It doesn’t look like Malaysia at all. I swear. All the boats and decks were there. Imagine; East Hampton’s Beach, the rich, high-end society style ;) Then, we had dinner in Gurney Drive. CHAR KUEY TEOW, ASSAM LAKSA, PASEMBOR :DD

Next post is going to be about my second day in Penang! Stay tuned! :D
